Didactics and Conferences

We consider our formal didactics and conferences to be one of the strong points of our
training program. Residents have input into both choice of topics and design of new
conference series. The following is a list of our regularly scheduled conferences. Didactics on specific rotations are described under description of rotations. Conferences are given by Family Medicine faculty, attending specialists and subspecialists, guest lecturers, and residents.

Conferences are held daily from 8:00am - 9:00am, and from 8:00am - 1:00pm on Fridays. All conference time is blocked and protected from clinic and rotation schedules to ensure attendance.

In addition to these conferences, residents are encouraged to attend the annual week-long
Family Medicine Update sponsored by SUNY-Stony Brook School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine.  Residents are also provided with funds and time to participate in CME board preparation courses.
